Domtar Expands Focus on Integrated Cost Management
Domtar Inc., a global leader in pulp and paper
manufacturing, expands its Enterprise Licensing Agreement
with 3C Software to provide the Impact:ECS™ Enterprise Cost
System for all of its Canadian and U. S. operations. This
engagement continues Domtar’s push to establish Impact:ECS
as a common costing platform for its manufacturing
facilities worldwide.
Currently, 3C Software is in the process of integrating the
Impact:ECS suite at four paper mills acquired by Domtar in
2001. The project involves connecting the costing system
with existing mill and enterprise systems to give cost data
users access to detailed cost information and analysis tools
from their desktop PC. The linked data will create a
seamless source of information that is easily manipulated to
create budgets, forecasts and analysis scenarios in addition
to calculating standard and actual costs.
This new agreement includes bringing the company’s Canadian
operations online with the enterprise costing solution,
creating one platform to manage and evaluate cost
information. The new installation will provide access to
Impact:ECS from all Domtar locations and secured server
access will provide users with cost information relevant to
them while protecting sensitive cost information. 3C
Software’s professional services team will work directly
with Domtar mill managers and accountants to roll-out
Impact:ECS and train users on the Windows-based,
client/server application.
