FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
3C Software Launches Educational Partnership with Canadian University
3C Software has teamed up with École
Polytechnique de Montréal to develop costing models for
business modeling and supply chain methodology development
for the pulp and paper industry. The school’s NSERC
Environmental Design Engineering Chair exists to research
and improve process integration techniques through
industry-driven design research to solve real mill problems.
By using Impact:ECS by 3C Software, the research team can
accurately model and analyze costs for pulp & paper
production, allowing them to make more informed operating
and design decisions.
The Impact:ECS solution has been implemented at a number of
prominent companies including Domtar, International Paper,
and Georgia Pacific; providing their accounting and
operations teams with detailed costing analysis. The NSERC
Chair can now use the flexibility of Impact:ECS to readily
model mill processes for any number of environments and
conditions to create process integration solutions that work
for real companies. The Chair will have access to the latest
version of Impact:ECS to collect, calculate and analyze cost
data from their production partners.
Dr. Paul Stuart, the NSERC Chairholder, stated that “By
working with 3C Software in order to create relational data
for both process and cost, we hope to develop new
methodologies for optimizing process and product decisions.”
As process engineers, the members of the chair are focused
on addressing multidisciplinary process challenges by
collaborating closely with pulp and paper mills across
Canada. 3C Software’s CEO, Matthew Smith shares the
excitement “to work with an enthusiastic partner like École
Polytechnique and the NSREC Chair to advance knowledge
improves cost management processes for paper companies”.
About the NSERC Environmental Design Engineering Chair
In November 2000, the Natural Sciences and Engineering
Research Counsel (NSERC) of Canada (www.nserc.gc.ca)
established an Environmental Design Engineering Chair at
École Polytechnique de Montréal in the effort to develop new
and innovative techniques for business process integration,
supply chain management and operations design. The
university’s researchers analyze production data and
interact closely with mill personnel to develop a holistic
view of process integration in a world-class paper mill.
About 3C Software 3C Software, developers of Impact:ECS™ and Impact:3C®, was
founded in 1989 and is a leader in detailed cost management
systems for process manufacturers. Headquartered in Atlanta,
Georgia, 3C Software serves clients in several manufacturing
industries including automotive, textile and apparel, pulp
and paper, semiconductor, chemical and rubber, and food and
beverage. 3C Software's rapidly implemented solutions work
with all accounting methods, are simple to maintain, and
handle unlimited calculations and variables. For more
