Announcing The Society of Cost ManagementMonday, August 8th, 2011 | Posted by Stacey Adams in News
Since last fall, 3C Software has actively participated in the creation of a new professional organization committed to issues of cost management. Expanding from it’s roots as a popular LinkedIn group, the Society of Cost Management (SCM) has launched its new website to serve as a hub for the organization. The site offers resources for its members in the form of videos, white papers, presentations, job postings, forums, and more. Best of all, membership is FREE!
The mission of the Society of Cost Management (SCM) is to bring together cost accountants, consultants and academia to expose the importance of cost management in its own right. Over the past few months, a 12-person executive committee of costing leaders from around the world was created that includes our own Matthew Smith and Stacey Adams. This committee is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization as well as developing best practices and conducting research to bring cost management to the forefront for leaders in businesses large and small.
“With our daily exposure to cost professionals around the world, we knew that there was a void in professional development opportunities in the area of cost management,” shared 3C Software CEO Matthew Smith. “We were able to partner with SCM founder Michael Fournier to help create an online community packed with resources and opportunities to connect with others in costing.”
Instead of focusing on certifications or requiring steep membership fees, SCM is committed to sharing information by leveraging technology to help companies improve their cost management efforts. We are a user-driven organization and invite our members to actively participate by networing in our online forums and submitting materials for inclusion on the website. We invite you to start your free membership with SCM today and help us create a place where issues in cost accounting are not merely a subset of financial accounting, but much more!
