Oracle and JD Edwards ERP

Oracle offers two alternatives when it comes to enterprise applications. First, the Oracle E-Business Suite is a comprehensive set of business applications including Enterprise Resource Planning (Financials, Human Capital, Channel and Project Management), Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer Relationship Management, and others. In addition, the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Suite includes a similar set of business applications with a lower cost of ownership. Both solutions are designed to help companies leverage the vast amount of data through a fully-integrated system to improve efficiencies and make better decisions.

With the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Advanced Costing Accounting Module, Oracle recognizes that there is significant value in understanding the importance of product costing. But for process manufacturing companies, complexities like multiple production locations and lines, frequent raw material substitutions, and other changes are often difficult to capture in ERP systems. Most costing teams find themselves building external spreadsheets or systems to perform the additional analysis needed to make decisions for activities including planning production and setting sales prices.

ImpactECS is not a replacement for either E-Business or EnterpriseOne systems. Instead, it expands the costing capabilities of these systems to include options to track multiple cost sets for products, perform scenario analysis activities using actual data, and develop sophisticated allocation methods to account for overhead costs. By implementing ImpactECS, companies can eliminate the myriad of spreadsheets or antiquated custom systems that were put together piecemeal to fill the analysis gap.
