FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The J.R. Simplot Company, a major food and agribusiness firm, has signed a software licensing agreement with 3C Software to implement the leading cost management solution – Impact:ECS. The deal will give Simplot’s finance, operations and leadership groups access to detailed product cost data through the completely integrated costing solution. The licensing agreement covers all of the company’s potato and vegetable processing plants in Idaho, North Dakota, Washington and Arkansas.

The privately held company has annual sales of $3.1 billion and produces nearly 3 billion pounds of frozen french fries and hash browns each year. Simplot has 14 food processing locations and supplies foodservice, retail and full-line food distribution companies in the US and abroad. The diversity of products and customers requires that the potato giant maintain a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing costs.

The flexibility of Impact:ECS is key to creating a costing process that directly mirrors the production process for all of their potato operations. The costing system, which will link with the existing ERP system, will provide business, operations and accounting leaders the ability to calculate standard and actual costs for their entire catalog of products. Additionally the reporting capabilities integrated in the Impact:ECS solution provides exposure of important manufacturing cost data in a number of shareable formats.

“The addition of Simplot as an Impact:ECS client demonstrates that costs continue to be an area of focus for food processors,” shared Matthew Smith, CEO of 3C Software. “Because of the sensitivity the food market has to changes in raw material prices and fuel costs, companies like Simplot require a tool that provides detailed data on product costs, budgets and forecasts to make decisions.”
