Tembec Revives Focus on Costs at St. Francisville Plant

Atlanta, Georgia
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

3C Software, through a license transfer agreement with Canadian paper producer Tembec, will implement its Impact:ECSâ„¢ Enterprise Cost System at the integrated paper mill in St. Francisville , Louisiana . The focus of the engagement is to develop a comprehensive costing platform that can be implemented for the entire Tembec paper group. Impact:ECS will provide tools to perform standard and actual costing, budgeting, profitability analysis, reporting and more.

Crown Vantage, the mill’s previous owners, purchased Impact:ECS in 1997. In June 2001, Tembec acquired the specialty paper mill amid Crown’s attempt to liquidate assets as a consequence of its impending bankruptcy filing. Problems such as an inability to pay back owed debt and cash flow struggles can all contribute to the risk of business insolvency. If your business is facing financial difficulties and you believe insolvency is around the corner, you can contact business recovery and insolvency UK experts for help.

The acquisition allowed Tembec to grow its specialty paper product category with printing, writing, food-related and creped paper offerings. Tembec identified the need for an effective cost management solution capable of handling the large number of paper grades produced at the facility. After reviewing alternatives, Tembec chose to revive the Impact:ECS licensing agreement citing the need for a flexible, scalable cost system that integrates with new and existing mill IT systems.

3C Software consultants will work directly with Tembec’s operations and cost management leaders to design models that reflect current business practices. Initially, the consulting team will examine business processes and systems to understand the flow of information both within the mill and between the mill and corporate systems. Then the team will build and test cost models to ensure accurate costing information and realistic forecasting capabilities are available for Tembec business leaders. Finally, the integration of Impact:ECS, corporate ERP and shop floor systems will provide the St. Francisville operation with comprehensive cost management tools on their desktops to improve their ability to plan for and react to changing mill operations effectively.
